About AFORS

Aircraft For Sale — Trusted by the aviation community since 1999

27 Years and still flying

AFORS has been online continuously since 1999, making it one of the longest-running aviation classifieds platforms in the UK. Founded by Alex, it has grown from a simple listings site into THE destination for anyone looking to buy, sell, or share an aircraft. His son Nick has more recently joined the project, bringing a fresh perspective and helping to modernise the platform for the next generation of pilots.

What Makes AFORS Different

Bespoke Engineering

Unlike "copycat" sites built on generic, resource-heavy templates, AFORS is a 100% bespoke platform engineered from the ground up. There is no WordPress bloat, no Joomla vulnerabilities, and no heavy frameworks like Laravel or jQuery slowing down your experience. We write pure, high-performance code using modern PHP 8.5, leveraging PHP OPcache to its absolute limit. By eliminating "digital drag," we ensure lightning-fast page loads and a rock-solid, secure environment. On AFORS, you aren't just browsing a website; you’re using a high-performance tool designed for the precision and speed that the aviation community expects.

Built on Trust

27 years of continuous operation means AFORS has earned the trust of the aviation community. With over 22,000 registered users and listings from across the UK and internationally, it's where serious buyers and sellers come first.

International Reach

AFORS covers listings from across the globe, including the UK, Europe, Australia, the USA, and many more countries. Whether you're buying locally or searching worldwide, you'll find it here.

Every Category of Aviation

From Light Aircraft and Vintage planes to Microlights, Gyrocopters, Gliders, Helicopters, and everything in between — AFORS covers the full spectrum of aviation. You'll also find Engines, Avionics, Hangarage, and more.

Verified Users

AFORS uses a verification system to confirm the identity and address of its users. Originally, a physical postcard was sent to each user's address, users can still take that option, but modern developments mean, we can also now do inline verification using a digital ID system, and a government issues id card, such as passport or driving licence helping ensure that the people you're dealing with are who they say they are. This adds a layer of trust and security that most online platforms simply can't offer.

Community Driven

AFORS has always been shaped by its users. Most changes to the site come directly from feedback and suggestions from the community. Alex reads every message and responds personally this has always been a site built for pilots and aviation enthusisats, by someone who listens.

The People Behind AFORS

Alex Founder & Lead Developer

Alex is a qualified pilot who brings a genuine passion for flight to the technical side of the platform. A decorated engineer, Alex was awarded the City & Guilds Silver Medal for Engineering, a testament to the precision and skill he brings to every project. Holding a BSc (Hons) from the Open University, he has been programming since even before the Sinclair ZX80 hit the market. His computing journey began with an Atari 800, mastering the 8-bit 6502 processor and its "whopping" 48K of RAM. This rare combination of aeronautical experience and award-winning engineering ensures Afors remains the most stable and trusted marketplace in the industry.

Alex created AFORS in 1999 and has kept it running continuously ever since. For 27 years he has personally managed the site, responded to user messages, and shaped it, based on the needs of the aviation community.
